Quick Stress Reliever
March 31st, 2006
Try this technique once a day, or whenever you feel stress mounting. It takes less than 15 minutes. Pick a focus word or phrase (such as “one” or “peace”), sit quietly in a comfortable position and close your eyes. Relax your muscles, progressing from your feet to your calves, thighs, abdomen, shoulders, neck and head. Breathe slowly, and say your focus word silently as you exhale. Continue for at least 10 minutes. Don’t stand up right away; continue sitting quietly for a minute or so, then open your eyes and sit another minute before rising.
